Schooley Mitchell of Louisa, (Lee and Marla Balaklaw) have been our business optimization consultants for many years now. Specifically, Schooley Mitchell has optimized telecom and waste for us. They have also evaluated our merchant services account and determined that our incumbent vendor is providing us with excellent pricing.

To this point, Schooley Mitchell has saved us tens of thousands of dollars. They have dealt with our wireless accounts, our internet and telephone accounts. They continue to make recommendations for optimizing our services. They obtain credits for us on an ongoing basis from our vendors, when there are mistakes on bills. When we moved from one telecom vendor to another in 2021 Schooley Mitchell obtained hundreds of dollars in credits from our former vendor.

In terms of waste, they helped us with the evaluation of our dumpster costs. They recommended a new vendor and oversaw the implementation of those services. When inflation caused prices to go up with our new vendor, they renegotiated with the new vendor to keep costs in line and below what we had been paying previously. When there was a billing error where costs were billed, that should not have been, Schooley Mitchell stayed on top of the vendor and got the billing corrected. Then they obtained a credit of over $1200.00.

As important as the monetary savings have been, Lee and Marla have saved us a great deal of time so we can remain focused on our flooring business. We appreciate the time and effort that they put in to look out for our best interests. They provide great customer service for us.

I highly recommend that other businesses engage Schooley Mitchell of Louisa to reduce their costs, enhance their services, and save them time with their knowledge.

I am happy to give a testimonial to Jeremy Hellman and his team at Schooley Mitchell. As a restaurant owner, I am usually focused on my customers and our food, so I was certainly intrigued when Jeremy offered to look for ways to keep my costs down, with no risk to me. Dealing with all of our vendors can be very time-consuming, not to mention confusing, so I appreciated the offer to take this off my plate. The process was painless -all we had to do was provide copies of our bills and they did all the rest.

They reviewed two expense categories for us, first was our phone/internet/TV services last fall and then recently our paper supplies, such as pizza boxes and take-out containers. Their original review of our phone/TV/internet identified small savings but I also appreciated the fact that they highlighted an early termination clause in the contract with my current vendor and recommended I wait for that to lapse rather than pushing me to change vendors immediately. By the time our termination clause ended, Verizon and Comcast had changed their prices such that we had no savings to be gained unfortunately. The consulting team at Schooley Mitchell recently completed their second analysis for us which was our paper products and provided us with detailed recommendations for cost-saving measures that would save us over 17% per year compared with our primary vendor. Jeremy and his colleagues walked me through their analysis in detail, which was very helpful and informative too. I am pleased to write a testimonial for Marc Schwalb and his team at Schooley Mitchell for being a tremendous resource for our business regarding their assistance in managing operational costs through pricing and contract negotiations. Marc was brought to my attention by one of our trusted business partners and so we entertained a meeting to see if Schooley Mitchell could help our business. As we thought there could be savings to be found with our current suppliers but not having the time or expertise to take a thorough look ourselves, it only made sense to give Schooley Mitchell an opportunity as it was a no-cost no-obligation audit.

We started out having Schooley Mitchell evaluate our waste expenses. To our surprise, they were able to find us 47% savings without having to switch suppliers, resulting in thousands saved. We then had Schooley Mitchell look at our telecom expenses, including our wireless plan. It was another success story whereby 22% savings was found, again without us having to change any of our suppliers. After two good experiences, we moved on to an area where we have a considerably high spend, which is small package shipping and less than truckload shipping costs. Here, Schooley Mitchell found 15% in savings, which has had the greatest impact on our business as this ended up saving us six figures on an annual basis, again without having to change suppliers.

Another aspect of our relationship with Marc and Schooley Mitchell is that they do not just reduce pricing, but they have an ongoing monitoring system to help find billing errors for which they then seek refunds on our behalf. The monitoring system is particularly helpful regarding shipping, as Schooley Mitchell reviews our invoices weekly, and then sends us e-mails regarding issues we may need to address. They also continue to monitor the marketplace to find more savings, which they have done with shipping and waste during our agreement. We are continually in a place of being optimized because of their handle on the marketplace. They have also been a great asset in terms of helping us in other areas as well. For example, they have been looking into optimizing costs with our packaging supplies vendors. We have been pleased that the response time is excellent with Schooley Mitchell. We feel treated as a high priority as efforts are made to get back to us very quickly and they will provide reports that their analysts can put together, which saves myself and my staff a great deal of time.

We keep renewing with them, because they keep performing for us. They have saved us tens of thousands of dollars over time on telecom. In the last three years they have started optimizing waste costs for us, including dumpsters, shredding. and medical waste. They saved us tens of thousands of dollars more in the waste cost segment.

Schooley Mitchell’s persistence in staying on top of vendors and making sure that the vendors charge us what is contracted, has been a huge help to us over time. Vendors don’t seem to be able to maintain contracted prices, and Lee and Marla hold them to task. Our cell phone costs have been optimized, and Lee and Marla have assisted us with cell phone upgrades. They have had upgrade fees waived, and obtained below retail cost pricing for us.

Schooley Mitchell also monitors our internet bandwidth utilization. Recently they found our bandwidth utilization had jumped up. They got our IT vendor involved to track down the issue, and bring utilization back to normal.

Lee and Marla have created a succession plan for us for our old phone system, just to be ready, if something happens to it. They have also optimized our television costs, and are keeping our TV vendor in line. They also recently handled a problem for us, with our internet service provider during an internet outage.

I highly recommend other medical entities, and businesses hire Schooley Mitchell to deal with their cost and service issues in different cost categories that they cover.
