SM Spotlight: Achievers Gymnastics Center

Whether you are new to gymnastics in the Denton or North Texas area, or want to build on already existing skills, Achievers Gymnastics Center is a great place to be!

Achievers Gymnastics Center was founded in 1992 by Frank Kudlac and his former business partner, Steve Nunno, an Olympic gymnastics coach.

At the time, there was only one other gymnastics club in Denton, Texas.

“We felt like the city of Denton needed a choice in gymnastics instruction,” Kudlac said.

Opening his own gym was a natural fit for Kudlac, as he had grown up in and around gymnastics his entire life.

His father and grandfather, and many other family members, were gymnasts and gymnastic coaches when they were younger, and Kudlac was a competitive gymnast himself during his adolescence in the Czechoslovakian SOKOL organization and throughout his college career at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. He was even the head coach at Texas Woman’s University for over 30 years until he retired in 2011.

When the gym first opened it was only 4,000 square feet and it focused solely on recreational gymnastics.

Today, Achievers Gymnastics Center is 20,000 square feet and offers a wide variety of gymnastics classes.

“As time went on, we kept offering more and more opportunities,” he said.

This includes preschool classes for children starting at four months old to four years old, recreational classes for boys and girls over the age of four, competitive teams for both boys and girls, and adult classes.

It also offers cheerleading classes for those between four and 18 years old, birthday parties, and various events throughout the year, including a monthly Parent’s Night Out, where parents can drop their children off for a few hours and enjoy some time to themselves.

For children looking to complement their sport of choice, Achievers Gymnastics Center offers a Ninja Warriors Training Program, inspired by the recent popularity of American Ninja Obstacle Course training, for boys and girls between the ages of seven and 17. These classes focus on helping kids improve their core and upper body strength, flexibility, and agility.

However, Achievers Gymnastics Center does more than just teach kids gymnastics or cheerleading, it teaches them important life skills like confidence, self-discipline, and perseverance.

“If you teach them good lessons, they’ll remember that for the rest of their life,” Kudlac said.

Achievers Gymnastics Center has also been voted “Best Gymnastics in Denton” by the readers of the Denton Record-Chronicle for the past 10 years, which is no doubt a testament to its dedication to its students.

In addition to providing quality classes for its students, Achievers Gymnastics Center is committed to giving back to the local community. It is a proud member of the Denton Chamber of Commerce and supports many organizations and schools in the area.
