Vanderhoef spent five years developing the product and business while incarcerated. Upon his release, he officially launched Rize Sweet Rollz with a mission that goes beyond baking. As the company shares, “He had a vision to create the greatest cinnamon roll in the history of the world. Not just a good one. Something that could bring light into people’s lives, even if just for a bite.”

Rize Sweet Rollz was founded with the intention and commitment to offering second chances. Vanderhoef and his team are proud to be recognized as a “First Step” employer, dedicated to creating employment opportunities and providing resources for individuals transitioning out of the justice system. Vanderhoef designed the bakery to offer stable, dignified employment, hands-on experience, and opportunities to develop valuable skills to help formerly incarcerated individuals rebuild their lives and successfully reintegrate into society.
