I recently attended a panel discussion hosted by the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee alongside with local organizations that rely on the bank. afterward the volunteers that attended help fill food bags for the children’s backpack program. This program provides for children facing food insecurity at home – during school hours, teachers discreetly place food bags in their backpacks so they have food over the weekend.

One in five children in Tennessee rely on these programs to get through the weekend, and I am proud to be doing my part in making that possible!
