The power of your company’s community involvement

The power of your company’s community involvement has a tremendous impact on the community, but did you know that giving back to the community can also have an immense impact on your business and its employees?

In this issue of the Pulse, we’ll discuss those benefits, as well as some of the different ways that your company can get involved in the community.

The positive impact company community involvement initiatives have on your employees.

According to the Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals (ACCP), company community involvement initiatives foster strong connections among colleagues, align employee and corporate values, and result in greater employee satisfaction.

“Today’s workplace is a powerful platform for employees to give back and support their communities,” said Andrea Wood, president and CEO of the ACCP.

“Companies with strong giving and volunteer programs have a clear edge in attracting and retaining purpose-driven talent. Survey data consistently shows that employees who volunteer report higher job satisfaction and a stronger connection to their employer. Volunteerism isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a strategic tool for engagement, retention, and building a purpose-centered culture.”

So, how can your company get involved in the community?

Hold a drive

One of the ways your company can give back to the local community is by holding a drive, whether that be a food, clothing or school supply drive. This is something that can be set up relatively easily at your company. Essentially, all you need to do is set up a donation bin in your front lobby for employees to put their donations in as they come into work. Many organizations will even come pick up the donations once your drive is over, so you don’t need to worry about dropping them off.

Organize a fundraiser

Another way you can give back to the community is by organizing a fundraiser for a charity of your choice. This allows your employees to come together as a group to raise funds for an important cause. A few options for this are 50/50 draws, candy grams or a walkathon.

Spend an afternoon volunteering

Another great option is to spend an afternoon as a group volunteering for a local organization. This option may take a little more organizing and may not be feasible if you’re a remote company with employees spread across different cities, states, or even countries, but if you can, it’s a great option. This could look like serving food at a local shelter, sorting clothes at a donation center, or picking up garbage in a local park.

In conclusion…

Giving back to your community can have many benefits for your business and employees. If your company is interested in giving back, explore the different options to see which one is right for you.
