Are iPhone users the most loyal?

Whether you believe that Apple, Android, Google, or Windows phones are the best on the market, there’s one category where Apple is the clear winner – customer loyalty. According to a study done by Morgan Stanley for Statista, 92 percent of iPhone owners who plan on buying a new phone within a year say they are “somewhat or extremely likely” to purchase another Apple device. That’s a significant increase from last year, when the number was 86 percent. In comparison, second place for loyalty goes to Samsung, with 77 percent of users. This is by far the highest for any

New iOS update includes a major security fix

If you use an Apple product, you probably noticed that iOS 10.3 was recently released. SlashGear says it has a number of features, but most importantly the update fixes a major security flaw that was responsible for overwhelming 911 call centers across the US last year. The flaw, created by an eighteen-year-old coder and spread as a link on Twitter, more or less tricked people into placing emergency calls by taking advantage of the fact that iPhones automatically call phone numbers users tap on. 911 centers need lines to be as open as possible, and this bug understandably created some

Will Apple be making its own graphics chips?

Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch all have a few things in common – one being a graphics card made by British company Imagination Technologies. For years now it’s been one of Apple’s favourite suppliers. According to the Financial Post, Apple recently struck perhaps a fatal blow to its long-time partner when it told Imagination that it will no longer be needing the company’s technology within the next two years. Since the announcement, Imagination’s shares plummeted 72 percent. Last year, Apple sold 211.9 million iPhones. This success means Apple holds a considerable amount of control over the fate of suppliers,

Apple loses $2 million lawsuit for employee treatment

Apple recently lost a lawsuit that was first filed in 2011 over denying some of its retail workers regular meal breaks. According to CNN, the company has to pay two million dollars as a consequence. Their primary complaint was the lack of meal breaks, but they also cited that the company didn’t pay them in a timely manner. According to California law, employers must give hourly workers a 30 minute meal break if their shift exceeds five hours. California employees are also entitled to

Will your next Apple phone fold?

It seems we’ve come full circle, all the way back to the flip phone. According to CNN, Apple was recently granted a patent for a flexible iPhone, which would potentially have the ability to fold in half and grip onto clothes and pockets. Apple’s patent describes how “carbon nanotubes” could bend to form a center hinge, replacing a traditional screen. This would also make it resistant to bending, warping, or dropping – typical things that have been the death of our previous iPhones. Also interesting, the patent claims that this technology could be adapted to any “electronic device.” Just because

Huawei ready to surpass Apple’s market shares

Here in North America, Huawei isn’t known for its smartphones the way manufacturers like Samsung or Apple are. It is more well known globally for being a builder of telecommunications networks. Even if you’re not overly familiar with Huawei, it does account for nine percent of the global smartphone industry, or about 33 million devices. Apple currently has twelve percent with 45.5 million devices, and Samsung leads the market with just over

Apple Maps Can Help Find Your Parking Spot

There’s nothing more frustrating than wandering around a parking lot, foolishly looking for your car. Forgetting where you parked is embarrassing, but Apple seems to think it can improve this experience by adding a new feature to Apple Maps for iOS 10. Apple’s upcoming parking reminder feature will automatically drop a pin to locate the car’s stationary location when parked somewhere other than your home address. Then, a parked car icon will appear in your Apple Maps, with an option to get directions to your car. Of course, there are similar apps that exist to help your find your car.
